  • Two specs available upon launch
  • Customer deliveries expected Q1 2022

After a lengthy gestation, and a recent local delay, the pre-order books are open for the hotly anticipated second-generation of the Subaru BRZ.

Local details have been confirmed with customer deliveries expected to commence in the first quarter of 2022.

Unlike the original BRZ of 2012, two variants will be offered upon launch – the BRZ Coupe and BRZ Coupe S – both of which can be specified with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

Manufacturer list pricing begins at $38,990 for the manual BRZ Coupe, while the six-speed automatic asks $42,790 – commanding a $3800 difference.

Stepping up to the BRZ Coupe S will cost you $40,190 and $43,990 for the manual and automatic, respectively, and trades the basic cloth trim for leather/Ultrasuede upholstery and adds heating functions to the front seats

As revealed previously, the new-gen BRZ enjoys a healthy power and torque bump of approximately 18kW and 32Nm over the outgoing model thanks to its enlarged 2.4-litre direct and port injection four-cylinder boxer engine.

Along with the ‘big-block’ engine, a range of Subaru’s active safety systems have been added as standard to the popular sports coupe, including: blind-spot monitoring, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert.

Automatic examples, specifically, also benefit from Subaru’s lauded EyeSight driver-assist system as well as added high-beam assist and reverse automatic braking.

The new model delivers a major improvement on the interior and tech front, featuring as standard: an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, digital radio, satnav, dual-zone HVAC, leather steering wheel and gear shift surround, keyless entry, self-levelling LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and 18-inch alloys shod in improved Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres.

Along with the release of local pricing and macro specifications today, Subaru Australia has also launched its dealer and online pre-order system.

That means that you can put your name, along with a fully-refundable $1000 deposit, down for a 2022 Subaru BRZ right now.

Subaru Australia expects the first allocation of 500 vehicles to arrive in the first quarter of 2022, with full Australian specifications to be confirmed closer to launch in the coming months.
