IT’S not uncommon to hear cars referred to as automotive art.
It may be hard for those without a love for all things motoring to understand, but a well-designed car can evoke many emotions simply through its curves, arches, grills, gills, wings, and silhouette.
One squad of designers has taken this feeling to the next level with an utterly jaw-dropping concept. They call it the Porsche 908-04 Concept.
We call it outstandingly beautiful.
Led by Alan Derosier, the six man team has put together a vision of car design which evokes an array of emotions for automotive enthusiasts, combining elements from Porsche’s current 918 hypercar, and its iconic 1696 908 LH Le Mans racer.
Although it will never exist in the real world, this concept was designed with reality in mind, with every aspect a feasible possibility.
“We wanted to create a car that nobody makes anymore. A “back to basics” kind of feel, mainly focused on generating a feeling for the love of racing,” an explanation on their website reads.
“A car for real “Car guys” and “Piston heads” just like us. A car that would give you goose bumps just by imagining yourself driving it. Forget about sequential transmission with paddles shifter, there’s nothing like a good old mechanical shifter.
"A purely manual car, like many Porsche guys miss nowadays. We wanted to give it an advanced look with a truly mechanical soul, the “form follows function” ideology of Porsche.”
We don’t know about you, but it is certainly all that and more for us! It is a damn shame it will never come to fruition.
