Sayonara, RX-8. The Mazda RX-8 will expire in June 2012. With that, Mazda will say goodbye to rotary engines - for the time being, at least. So in 2012 the world will have no rotary-engined car to buy - for the first time since 1964, when the very first Wankel-engined car went on sale. A 48-year unbroken production run is pretty impressive for an engine that always seemed out of step with the rest of the world.
