No Aussie race fan will forget the 8th of September 2006; the day a country lost its King of the Mountain. Peter Geoffrey Brock was competing in the Targa West Rally in Western Australia, when his Daytona Coupe left the road on a downhill left-hander and hit a tree, killing the 61-year-old instantly. The Bathurst 1000 a month later was a tribute to Brock, but was sadly overshadowed by the death of New Zealand driver Mark Porter.
