The 1994 San Marino GP at Italy's Imola circuit was one of Formula One's blackest. Friday qualifying saw Rubens Barrichello crash heavily; the next day Austrian driver Roland Ratzenberger was killed. An upset Ayrton Senna started from pole, but a startline incident saw fans injured by a flying wheel. A lap after the restart Senna speared off the track and hit a concrete wall at over 200km/h. He was airlifted to hospital where he was declared dead.
