Oh dear. General Motors has had an unfortunate mishap at the Nürburgring and crashed a prototype of the upcoming Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. The lairy-looking test mule came unstuck after a lock-up on corner entry and found its face buried in the Armco.

The right hand side of the car takes a beating, and all four wheels leave the ground, before the wounded muscle car limps across the track to the infield. Skip to 1:35 for the action and set your face to cringe.

The bewinged Camaro appears to be a new Z/28, the track-focused version of Chevrolet’s iconic two-door sports car.

Expect race ready upgrades when the Z/28 is officially announced, not to mention huge grunt almost certainly from a V8 judging by the soundtrack in this clip. Those behind the video seem convinced about the presence of a 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 under the bonnet, but our ears say different.

We don’t know who the driver was, but this probably wasn’t their first time at the legendary circuit. Thankfully both occupants walked away from the scene, and damage to the car was minimal, but we’re not sure we can say the same for the driver’s pride.
