Holden Sandman returns

It’s news to make baby-boomers jump for joy – the Holden Sandman is officially back!

Four decades after the original Sandman became an Aussie icon, Holden has today announced it is resurrecting the brand in the form of a $2950 sticker pack for current VF SV6 and SS-V models.

Available in Ute or Sportwagon body styles, the 2015 Sandman Special Edition boasts 20-inch gloss black wheels, black exterior trim and roof racks, and Sandman decals, dashboard stitching, sunshades and floor mats.

Buyers will have three colours to choose from – Heron white, Nitrate Silver or Phantom Black – but it’s the options list that will bring a smile to Sandman diehards.

Only two options are offered: an orange rear shagpile rug (Sportwagon only) and orange sheepskin seat inserts.

The 2015 Sandman will go on sale in June, but what do you think? Can the modern incarnation live up to the legend?
