Aston Martin has begun drip-feeding images of its latest digital-only concept car, the DP-100, ahead of a 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed reveal and July in-game release.

Although the teaser pictures give away little information, the DP-100, or Design Prototype 100, appears to house a mid-mounted V12 engine and a central cockpit design similar to the Le Mans LMP1 racers.

The futuristic Aston represents the next digital concept car to be released under Gran Turismo 6’s Vision GT program, an outlet for automakers to design cars that are not limited by feasibility.

Even though the DP-100 is destined for the digital realm only, it is entirely possible for certain design cues and technology to trickle down into a production Aston in the future.

The program has already seen digital concepts from Nissan, Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, and these cars can be seen as previews into the automakers future design philosophies, with some even making the transition to the real world in the form of one-off show cars.

Nissan’s concept, the 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, is strongly rumoured to be a preview of the next-generation GT-R and Mercedes’ AMG Vision GT will form the basis of the German automakers AMG GT.
