OH, TO be a copper in Italy. Forget using Falcons and Commodores; in Italy the rozzers have tastier home-grown cop cars.
Like the brand new Lamborghini Huracan.
Yep, Lamborghini has donated this specially modified 325km/h LP 610-4 Huracan to the Polizia to use for general duties – things we imagine involve traffic stops, special events and keeping Italy’s other homegrown supercars in check.
Power comes from the same 449kW/560Nm 5.2-litre V10 as a regular Huracan, meaning a 0-100km/h sprint of 3.2 sec, but this Polizia edition also boasts a number of additional features.
Video cameras are fitted to the windscreens to record high-speed chases, there are gun holsters and the usual plethora of police radios and lights.
As well as police work, the Huracan will be called on for medical emergencies, meaning it has an on-board defibrillator and even a special refrigerated compartment in the front trunk should it be needed to transport organs.
This isn’t the first time the Italian police force has used Lamborghini power. They were first given a Gallardo back in 2004, and again in 2008, although one did meet a rather crashy end in 2009.
