2016 HSV Clubsport R8 Track Edition to the Bathurst 1000

ROADTRIPS are a part of Aussie culture. Generations of Australian’s have grown up barrelling into the family station wagon (often a Holden or Ford), and travelling long distances on the road for a holiday.

It’s with this spirit in mind that we took HSV’s latest creation, the Clubsport R8 Track Edition for a road trip to Mount Panorama.

Making the event particularly poignant, was the fact the trek was to begin at the same time the very last Ford Falcon to ever be made rolled off the Broadmeadows production line.

With ace photographer Thomas Wielecki in tow, the HSV Track Edition was taken through the heartland of rural Victoria and New South Wales.

There were sleepy towns, endless plains, flooded river banks, swooping crop dusters and more mosquitos than you could poke a stick at.

Getting to Bathurst was just half the journey, with the Track Edition then spending the weekend as part mobile tent at the top of The Mountain.

Nestled amongst the campgrounds of the most dedicated and passionate motorsport fans in the country, the Track Edition attracted plenty of attention, with many curious punters keen to get a closer look at the car.
