Meet the Vuhl 05 – Mexico’s new supercar beater.

Officially unveiled overnight, think of the featherweight Vuhl (pronounced ‘Vool’) as Mexico’s answer to the Ariel Atom.

Using a 213kW 2.0-litre Ford Ecoboost engine, the track-focused lightweight special can reportedly charge from 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 245km/h.

Impressive figures, but it’s clear the Vuhl (which stands for Vehicles of Ultra High-performance and Lightweight) hasn’t been built for comfort.

With a bare-bones design, no windscreen and hard bucket seats, the entire car weighs just 695kg (dry), putting if firmly up against established rivals likes the Atom, KTM X-Bow and BAC Mono.

Whether the Vuhl can match their performance remains to be seen, but still, good job Mexico!
