Renault has given us some brilliantly barmy hot hatchbacks but they look like librarians next to this. The Renaultsport Megane R26.R was the last hurrah of the previous generation Megane family hatch. Removal of the rear seats, plastic windows and other weight-saving mods, meant it was 123kg lighter than the already rapid Megane R26. Track tyres, tweaked suspension and 167kW helped the R26.R set a Nurburgring lap record for a front-wheel-drive car. The whoosh of the optional titanium exhaust under acceleration sounds like you've got a tornado in the boot.
