Some would argue that the Daimler brand effectively died 62 years ago, when Jaguar bought the venerable brand and began an era of badge-engineered Jags. The last standalone Daimler model was the DS420 limousine, axed in 1992. You could buy a Daimler as recently as 2008 (a rebadged Jag XJ) but it's now defunct. Current owner Tata has hinted that it may revive the brand yet again as a super-luxury version of Jaguar. But are there really enough big-city mayors and old-money aristocrats to support such a brand?
