The 1991-2002 'Generation 3' RX-7 ranks as one of the all-time great sports cars. Its twin-rotor '13B' engine got two turbochargers to deliver up 206kW, enough to propel it to 250km/h and to 100km/h from rest in under six seconds. It looked great and had a superlatively raw chassis feel. That should have made it an instant hero. In practice, its steep price tag meant that very few were ever sold - a genuine tragedy.
