A long road trip can be dull for anyone, but kids can get bored before you even pull out of the driveway, which is bad news for everyone. Make sure that any portable DVD players, Game Boys and PSPs are fully charged and they've brought plenty of games and DVDs along, but you'll also need some non-electronic back up. Colouring books, puzzle books and travel versions of board games are always a winner. Plus, you can give them their own map to 'help' with navigation. If all else fails, 'I Spy' and 'Car Bingo' will buy you a few extra kays.
