The Subaru WRX STI has been revealed in all its RRP glory at the Brisbane Motor Show today.

The entry-level STI is stickered at $59,990, and there is a massive jump in both price and spec to the top-shelf STI R Spec at $64,990.

Details on what you actually get for your $5K are still sketchy.

Under the bonnet, the same 2.5-litre single-scroll turbo remains. There is no official word on power, but we are betting on 224kW with a 6700rpm redline.

The step from WRX to entry-level STI gives you a big rear wing, dual exhaust pipes, different alloy wheels, flared guards and skirted front and rear bumpers. Inside, big bucket seats, drilled aluminium pedals, leather trimmings and of course, the pink badging which points at its potent potential.

The next jump in spec is still under wraps, but the name 'R Spec' suggests a more hardcore direction. Or not - if you read between the lines of Subaru Australia Managing Director Nick Senior's speech at the Brisbane Motor Show this morning, the $5K could be buying you plush comfort instead of performance...

“The new Impreza WRX STI retains its truly exceptional performance credentials and gains a new level of comfort and refinement," said Nick Senior.

“No longer will drivers have to sacrifice comfort for the sake of performance.”

So expect a sat-nav and super sound system, leather seats, and a jewel-encrusted shift knob, perhaps?
