Is the Kuala Lumpur City Grand Prix Supercars championship race on this year? Or not?

Depends what you read and who you talk to.

Malaysian media is reporting that the street race, where Australia’s Supercars are booked to hold a round of the championship in August on a tight circuit in the heart of Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, “won’t be held” this year as different parties squabble over ownership of the event.

V8-Supecars -KL-MalaysiaBusiness publication The Edge reported that organisers were in a legal fight over the potential $200 million windfall from the event, which was to have run for a decade, with Australian Supercars signed up for four years.

Russian -GP “We are monitoring the legal dispute involving the promoter,” Supercars’ CEO James Warburton told Wheels. “It is beyond our control, however, the event is on for 2016 and we will advise our fans and teams if that situation changes.”

So the event is on, for now.
